Project: Outlook Consumer Theme (“Alpine Glow”)

Situation

Outlook’s default consumer theme required comprehensive modernization as part of the One Outlook initiative serving 400M+ users. The existing visual foundation needed elevation to support broader theming capabilities including full-bleed image theming and mobile header treatments while maintaining brand consistency across web, Windows, and mobile platforms.

Strategic Context: Executive leadership recognized this as a critical touchpoint for improving user perception and engagement. The initiative required direct partnership with the Outlook VP and senior leadership to align theming investments with business OKRs.

Task

As Senior Design Lead, I owned end-to-end creative direction for Outlook’s default consumer theme transformation. My responsibility included modernizing product aesthetics while establishing scalable foundation for future theming capabilities and coordinating collaboration with world-class 3D artists to deliver high-impact branded wallpaper.

Action
