Project: Outlook Consumer Theme (“Alpine Glow”)

My Role

Senior Design Lead driving creative direction for Outlook’s default consumer theme across web, Windows, and mobile platforms.

Opportunity

Drove creative direction for Outlook’s default consumer theme as part of One Outlook initiative. Modernized product aesthetics while establishing foundation for broader theming capabilities including full-bleed image theming and mobile header treatments.

Strategic Impact: Partnered directly with the Outlook VP and senior leadership to align theming investments with business OKRs—enabling collaboration with world-class 3D artists to deliver a high-impact, scalable branded wallpaper that set a new visual standard across platforms.

Process

Creative Leadership: Authored creative brief and design principles. Led end-to-end visual direction with Six N. Five—globally renowned agency for elevated, emotionally resonant work.

  • Led weekly reviews across design, brand, and marketing stakeholders

  • Delivered on time and within budget in three refinement cycles

Global Launch: Alpine Glow shipped to 400M+ users as Outlook’s default theme, delivering fresh, emotionally resonant visual experience across all form factors.
